THE CHEWSTICK RETREAT
Come as you are.
Connect a little deeper.
A weekend of creativity, shared experience and island time. No artistic experience required.
A little space to reconnect
Chewstick’s Retreat Programme brings people together away from the distractions of everyday life. Originally conceived as an annual gathering, it grew into a regular part of the Foundation’s work: breaking down barriers and helping people reconnect with themselves and one another.
Participant-led workshops, collaboration, group activities and quiet time all have a place here. Everyone is creative in some way. Whatever your interests or experience, you are welcome to take part.
The people who arrive shape the weekend. Friendships, creative collaborations and conversations can continue long after the boat returns.

Learn from each other
The “Bredren” buddy system pairs participants to encourage a personal connection and collaboration with someone they might not otherwise get to know. It is a reminder that everyone has something to teach, and everyone has something to learn.
Breakout sessions run for 1.5–2 hours. Participants offer skills, interests and experiences, with room for discussion and practical participation. The mix changes with the people who attend.
Make the weekend yours
Past sessions have explored creative writing, life drawing, photography, yoga, capoeira, salsa, guitar, head wrapping, art journals, improvisation, personal empowerment and Greek mythology. These are examples of what people have shared, rather than a fixed programme for the next Retreat.
Outside the workshops, make time for swimming, exploring, bocce, chess, football, fishing with your own gear, jamming, fireside sing-alongs or simply sitting by the water.
Your weekend includes
